昨年末に「山林的」というタイトルで行った展示作品の続きです。
3年前より人のいない場所を歩いては撮影を行っている。
放置された自然の中をあてもなく彷徨っていると普段いる東京では作動しない動物感覚が蘇ってくる。そこで何かしら気配を感じたら素早くシャッター切るようにしている。
撮ってからまた目の前を見返してみると何の変哲もない景色がそこにあり、何に反応したのか自分でもよくわからないまま、また道を進む。
ただそれだけのことなんだけど、帰ってフィルムを現像して、プリントをすると確かにいたはずの所とはまた違う景色が広がっている。
写真ってそもそもそういうことなんだろうけど、気ままに適当に行った所ばかりだからもうそこには戻れない。場所や記憶も朧げになってくるとこんな疑問が湧いてくる。
「本当に僕は写真に写っている世界にいたのだろうか？」
本展示は2024年に撮影した新作を展示いたします。
＊展示タイトルは昨年の「山林的」と同様に敬愛する俳人 永田耕衣の書物から引用しました。

This is a sequel to an exhibition piece I did at the end of last year titled “Sanrinteki (Mountainous Forest ).
For the past three years, I have been walking and photographing in where there are no people around.
Wandering aimlessly in abandoned nature brings back animal senses that do not operate in Tokyo, where I am usually located.
Whenever I sense a sign of something, I press the shutter.
After taking the picture, I look back at the scene in front of me and see nothing out of the ordinary, and without really knowing what I was reacting to, I continue on my way again.
I go back home, develop the film, and make prints, and sure enough, the scenery is different from what I had seen in the first place.
I guess that’s what photography is all about, but I can’t go back to the places I visited at random.
As my memory of the places and memories become hazy, the question arises,
“What is the world that really exists in the photographs? Was I really in the world in the photographs?”
This exhibition will feature photographs taken in 2024.
＊The title of the exhibition is taken from a book by Nagata Koui, a haiku poet whom I admire, as was the case with last year’s “sanrinteki”

Born in Tokyo in 1973
Graduated from San Francisco Art Institute in 1998.
He has shown his photography at solo and group exhibition both inside and outside the country.
He founded gallery Studio 35 minutes in Araiyakushi, Tokyo in 2014.
